In my teens and early 20's, I was thought to be gay by lots of people. I was somewhat of a nerd, I had a part-time job, I had certain ambitions that could be met only if I did well in school, I didn't have the degree of privacy that I wanted, and many girls/women enjoyed seeing how many hoops they could make a guy jump through before having to put out. When I compared the time and energy I would have to put towards girls to get laid to what I would lose in terms of works hours, study hours, grades, and the gossip that would make the rounds, it wasn't worth it to chase girls.

I had different priorities than most young men. Society, then and now still, hyper-sexualizes young men. If a young man is not lusting after every woman and every turn then he must be gay or have some sort of problem. He is not allowed to have standards, or non sex-related priorities. He can't, in the words of one young lady, see a skirt and leave a skirt.

For me, it stopped being an issue in my late 20's when I started being surrounded by like-minded people, both men and women.

 

My brother in law and I hang out a lot. We love in a small town. My wife doesn't go out much. So people just see me and my brother in law driving around in my convertible. Some one asked my niece about her gay uncle and she had to explain who we are.

Although I do have sex with men quite frequently so maybe that has someyhing to do with it.

 

I have and always will be much more a friend of women as far back as junior high school, what this means is I hung out with some beauties! That for the life of my friends mind they couldn't understand why I wasn't sleeping with one them despite losing them all as friends, I didn't follow televised sports, fix cars, usual guy shit. I still to this day know how to have a serious relationship with women and keep my pecker out of it ie; I must be gay?

 

Once. Last year one of our neighbors thought I was gay cause she never saw me with a woman. That's not the case, just can't be in a relationship right now.

 

Even before I was, I was fingered as being gay because I was shy, uncertain of myself, bullied target. I was bisexual up until I was 21 but once I left school and grew addicted to cock and less interested in pussy, I didn't care if they thought i was gay, as I probably was by then. But the way people yell at you and call you a "cocksucker" sort of hurts but it's not the word but they way they say it that hurts.

In fairness some of my extended family have probably come to the conclusion I'm gay, but that's their judgement, not my reality.

I grew up in pretty tough neighbourhood. It wasn't like run for your life tough with bullets flying or anything. But getting the shit beat out of ya was a very likely scenario if you didn't know what / where / why and what not... Had that happen to me a couple of times, but I was a quick runner and quick wited, so I ran or talked my way out of a lot of situations.
Constant physical and oral bullying at school if one doesn't know how to talk back or fight back. And if you're out past dark, there where places you should keep away from, and remarks thrown at you, you should ignore. Being local, knowing a lot people and having an older brother, knowing his friends helped a lot in surviving daily shit and school. It would have been a lot wors, because...
I was a small, skinny dude, and I had long hair at that time (and that was considered "ghey" around here during my teenage years), dressing up in all black. I wasn't a nerd per se', but I got good grades. So I got my share of abuse. Being called gay was mandane, actually. And soon I was a master at talking shit back to morons. It was still hurtfull and sometimes came with threats of violence. I'd kick in the teeth of some people if I'd meet them again. Or say "no" when they'd have to pass me to get hired.

Everyone knew that I liked both from a young age. the girls knew I liked them and that I liked the boys too. Never gay just smart enough to know what feels good.
