I have probably misunderstood something, I think I have six posts but I still am unable to login on the stories page. (I have tried using both my username and my email account.) What might I be missing? Or does it take some time to update the database letting me have access to submit stories?

Also, where can I find a list of story guidelines? (Like, what's allowed and not, etc.)

As for posting here, looking at stuff that gets posted on the forum, I feel it is likely my stories tend to use the kinds of tag combinations that are less appreciated here in the forums (like um, incestuous rape, torture and snuff, etc). I'm seeing a lot more of that on the story site than here in the forum. But I might post some of the nicer stuff here soon.

 

I joined the forum and then tried to login to sex stories but it says I need to make 6 posts on forum? I don't want to just make meaningless posts on the forum. Is this really necessary or how do I join and post on sexstories?

Does anyone know of a way to search for stories, but exclude certain tags? For instance, search for voyeurism but exclude incest.

 

Hey, new here just wondering about the rules for writing stories, I have read the whole thread and I am still not sure what the actual rules are regarding the age you are allowed to write your characters, the rules state nothing under 18, but i have seen plenty of stories mentioning and using younger characters, it also says no gratifying violence, but then there are things like snuff, necro, and death.
So can anyone tell me the actual rules???

I am new and want to begin posting. I see a 5000 character minimum. Are there any max limits?

As a reader the single most important feature I would suggest adding, is the ability to filter stories by multiple tags. My particular interests strongly favor gay and lesbian submissive stories. It would be so much easier to find stories that interest the reader if a multiple tag filter were available.

Other sites have it, and it really narrows down the field of stories to review.

 

That's great but then there are 3850 stories to scroll through but only a small fraction are of the submissive theme...

 

Can I at least provide links to where people can find me in general? I was thinking of linking allmylinks.com on my profile, so there wouldn't be any direct link to Patreon for example. (But there would be the allmylinks.com link itself of course...)

 

I continue to wrestle with the rating issue on this site. The site is very oriented on the rating of the story to promote it and get it seen. Makes sense, but I think it is abused. I have now published 16 chapters of a story. Time and time again, once it becomes visible, each chapter receives a slew of downvotes almost immediately. Usually between 8-15. I consider these illegitimate votes given that they tend to happen as part of the very first reads of the story. Then the more legitimate votes will start to come in raising the rating. As soon as it gets close to 80%, another slew of downvotes right in a row. Not one or two, but a batch of 8 or 9 all at one time. Watching this pattern for 16 individual chapters, it is to repetitive a process to be a coincidence. Each chapter is artificially held between 70-75% for 30 days. Then once it is past the point where it would show up on the main screen as a "Highly Rated Story Posted in the Last 30 Days", the downvotes tail off and slowly over time the chapter will get to a higher percentage. But by then it is also buried and unlikely to get seen by most people.

Maybe I'm wrong and my writing just isn't up to snuff. All of the people with opinions that I respect seem to think it is well written and worthy of a better rating. I have gotten some very good constructive criticism that I think has made the writing even better as the story progresses. So if I am wrong and the votes are legitimate, then I would be fine with that. But I hate to think that I would miss out on getting read by a wider audience because of people cheating the system.

Is there no way for the moderators of the website to be able to identify this problem? Can't they back trace who is posting the downvotes to see if there is a pattern to what they are doing? Downvoting all new submissions immediately upon them being posted, if that is what is happening? See if they can identify bad actors? I don't know what is possible and what isn't on this front with the technology and operations involved. I have been told that limiting the voting to only registered users does not help the situation. Another person told me that to try to help the situation, they actually limit the number of upvotes that can be posted in a 24 hour period. I haven't seen that first hand so I don't know if it is true, but that seems crazy to me. Why would you limit upvotes? Downvotes I could understand to discourage some of what we are seeing. Maybe if they can't do it in these batches and it took that much more time, it would discourage them from the practice.

Or might they think about not putting so much emphasis on rating? Most of the site seems to be organized by rating instead of by alphabetical order or by posting date.

The only other solution I can think of is leaving the site and trying to find another to post to. I would hate to do that as I have seen a lot of stories here that I have really enjoyed.

Any thoughts on the subject would be appreciated.

 

Do you allow anyone to vote? Change it to Deny Anonymous, that way you should be able to see who is down-voting.

Of course, the site typically allows only one vote per story, but if someone really wants to, they can find a way around that.

How long ago did you post stories? You show as having 5 forum posts. As of over a year ago you need to have 6 recent forum posts to be able to post stories on sexstories. A new rul at the time. Make your six posts, wait 2-3 days then try logging in to sexstories.
